Karen has won numberous awards for her oil paintings:  The still life, "Mellow Yellow" won 1st place in the San Clemente Art Association Juried Winter Show 2007, and the portrait "Indian Love Call", received 1st place award in the Saddleback Art League Annual All-Media Show 2007.  "Tied to Buoys" received 4th place at the Orange County Fair in the professional oil category of the juried art competition (2005), and "It's My Birthday" received Honorable Mention in the National Juried Orange Show in San Bernadino (2005).  Karen has been juried into various shows and galleries and has been commissioned to do both portrature and seascape paintings for clients.  Her still life, "Still in India" was juried into the National Show at the Moro Bay Art Association in Central California, and her paintings, "You Are My Sunshine" (2005), "Both Sides Now" (2006),"Day's End" (2006), "What a Wonderful World" (2007)were juried into the SOCALPAPA Juried competitions.  The portrait "Le Pecheur" was juried into the 2006 LPAPA Studio Show, as well as the 2006 Burbank Methods and Materials Show.  "You Are the New Day", was juried into the California Art Club Show, "Floating Waters and Coastal Vistas" at the Women's City Club in  Pasadena, and the portrait, "Rebecca" was chosen for the LPAPA Miniature Show, "Less Is More" at the Laguna Studio/Gallery in Laguna Canyon.  The still life, "Sunkissed Sweets" was juried into the 2007 National Orange Show, and "First Choice" was juried into the LPAPA Studio Show 2007.  Karen's seascape, "Footprints in the Sand" won Honorable Mention in the San Clemente Winter 2008 Judged Show in the Masters Division, and most recently the portrait "Patty" won 1st Place in the SAL Juried Show.
